Featured Remodel #2506 by Production Manager, Chris Skodack: A Whole-Home Transformation Built on Trust, Collaboration, and Smart Planning in Greenwood Village, Colorado
At Maverick Home Remodeling, Inc., some of our most rewarding projects are the ones that completely reimagine how a home looks, feels, and functions. This recent whole-home remodel in Greenwood Village, Colorado was exactly that kind of project.
Over the course of a 10-month renovation, we touched nearly every part of the home. From a finished basement to remodeled bathrooms, a redesigned kitchen, upgraded mechanical systems, and custom details throughout, this project became a showcase of what can happen when strong planning meets skilled craftsmanship.
Most importantly, our homeowners were thrilled with the result, even leaving us a glowing Google Review. See below!
“We’ve worked with Maverick on three projects: a laundry room remodel, a major remediation project after an unrelated house flood (including coordination with our insurance), and most recently a full renovation of a newly purchased home which was a huge project.
Every experience has been excellent. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations, project management was outstanding, and communication was clear throughout. The team was professional, responsive, and genuinely great to work with, which made even the more stressful parts of renovation much easier.
We felt confident in their guidance and recommendations and it was great to know we were in great hands every step of the way. We highly recommend Maverick.”
A Whole-Home Remodel with Purpose
This home renovation was not a cosmetic refresh, it was a thoughtful transformation designed to improve everyday living, maximize space, and bring consistency throughout the home.
One of the most dramatic upgrades was removing the existing knock-down wall texture and bringing the entire home to a Level 5 smooth finish. This created a clean, modern look throughout the home and gave every room a more refined feel.
Additional improvements included:
Three fully remodeled bathrooms + added basement bathroom
A renovated kitchen with improved flow and functionality
Framed and finished empty basement into living space
New hardwood flooring laced into existing areas
Hardwood added to the primary bedroom and office
New open stair railing replacing an outdated half wall
Energy-efficient furnace and AC replacement
Tankless water heater installation
New garage storage systems
Custom closet systems added during construction
Thoughtful lighting upgrades throughout the home
Reimagining the Main Floor
The main floor saw some of the most impactful changes.
A wall between the kitchen and dining room was partially opened to improve sightlines and create a more connected layout. In the dining room, we expanded one window so it matched the proportions of the second window in the space, bringing balance and symmetry to the room.
In the kitchen, one existing window was removed and replaced with French doors, adding natural light and creating easier outdoor access.
We also embraced a “reduce, reuse, recycle” mindset by repurposing the original kitchen sink window and installing it in the garage to bring natural light into that workspace.
A Primary Suite Designed for Daily Living
The primary bathroom received a full redesign with a new layout focused on privacy and flow.
Door openings were relocated so the closet felt more secluded while still remaining directly connected to the bathroom. These kinds of layout adjustments may seem small on paper, but they make a major difference in how a home feels and functions every day.
Smart Basement Planning for Today and Tomorrow
The basement was one of the most collaborative parts of the remodel. Upon purchasing this home, the basement was unfinished providing the homeowners a blank canvas to create specifically the spaces they wanted in their lower level of their new home.
Originally, the basement bathroom layout design for the unfinished basement felt too small and restrictive. Before framing was finalized, our team brought the homeowners and framers together to review the footprint in real time. By making adjustments early, we were able to create a larger, more functional bathroom that better served the space and the homeowners.
We also reworked the basement living area to improve usability. Rather than centering the TV in the middle of the room, we created a dedicated entertainment nook near the wet bar, making that zone feel intentional and inviting. The homeowners wanted to be sure this part of the room was cozy, so we installed an electric linear fireplace under the TV.
In the center area, the homeowners will have a round table ideal for poker parties or enjoying ballgame grub & suds. On the opposite side, is an open, flexible space for a future pool table, recreation room, or extra space the family could grow into.
The final finished basement now includes the following rooms:
Open Entertainment Room
Workout Room
Utility Room with upgraded HVAC system and on-demand hot water heater
Bedroom with Walk-in Closet
Larger more functional ¾ Bathroom
Two Storage Rooms (one finished and one unfinished )
Bringing to life an unused space is one of Maverick’s favorite remodeling projects. The homeowners wanted the space to be as functional as the main level.
This kind of forward-thinking planning is one of the ways Maverick separates itself. We don’t just remodel for today, we help homeowners prepare for tomorrow. It’s why we say we Renew Your Life by Renewing Your Home™.
Custom Details That Tie It All Together
The best home remodels are often defined by the details, and this home had plenty of them.
Custom shelving near the front door was designed to match shelving opposite the fireplace. The stain color coordinated with the kitchen island and front door, creating a cohesive look across multiple spaces.
The stair railing cap was stained to match the hardwood flooring, blending craftsmanship with continuity.
In the office, and throughout all spaces, we worked closely with the electrician to position lighting so future fixtures would align with furniture placement and how the homeowners planned to use the room. This specific planning is another way Maverick stands out.
Even the custom closet systems, which were added after the original design phase, were built to match the overall character of the home.
Navigating Challenges Through Collaboration
As with any major home renovation, challenges came up along the way. Some design revisions and timeline delays required flexibility and problem-solving from everyone involved.
But this project succeeded because it was a true collaboration between the homeowners, the design team at Denver Design Group, and Maverick’s production staff.
One of the most technical challenges involved the front entry. The original door included an arched window system over the door, which is an unusual installation method. Our team removed the entire assembly, reframed the opening, updated exterior brickwork, and installed a new solid door and window system that better fit the updated home. And, it’s absolutely gorgeous!

Built on Trust
One of the most unique aspects of this project was that the homeowners were living at another residence during the remodel. The entire renovation was managed remotely with consistent communication and trust.
Because these were repeat customers, there was already a strong relationship in place. That trust allowed the project to move efficiently and gave the homeowners confidence every step of the way.
