Barbecue, gardens, fire pits - oh my! It’s summertime in Colorado, which means beautiful summer hikes, outdoor grilling parties, road trips and finally, temperatures in the 90’s. As the summer goes on and temperatures increase, most Coloradans will look for a way to retreat from the afternoon heat. So where do you retreat? Like many, we enjoy a nice cool down escape to our basement or backyard deck. What makes a great basement or backyard deck? We’re glad you asked!
Basement
It is well known that basements tend to be much cooler than the rest of your home. This is typically due to the cooler temperature of the ground soil surrounding your basement walls, heat naturally rising to upper levels and a lack of sunlight beaming into your basement. So it’s no wonder why people tend to escape to their basements during the hottest days of the summer.
If you’re the type of person who likes to cool down indoors, it may be time to renew your basement. What makes a great basement really depends on your wish list. Do you want a movie room or a game room or even both? Or maybe you want an additional living room, bar, bathroom and bedroom? Whatever the case, having an amazing basement to cool down and relax in is an absolute must! Check out some of our basement remodeling projects below!
Backyard
Let’s say you are feeling the heat from a hot Colorado summer day, but don’t necessarily want to go indoors - where do you go? Your backyard deck! Under an umbrella, of course. Now imagine a hot summer day, margarita in hand, a nice book and you lounging in your favorite outdoor couch surrounded by your gorgeous deck with a built in pergola and outdoor kitchen. Yes, please!
Investing in your outdoor space is one of those projects that will make you absolutely happy. Escaping the heat doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go indoors. Your outdoor space is still your living space, so be sure to make it a relaxing retreat. Check out some of our favorite deck remodeling projects below!
