A lot goes on behind the scenes of a home remodel and you’d be surprised at how organization, communication and dedication play an incredible role in the success of a home remodeling project. It’s kind of like a movie score.
At Maverick Home Remodeling, Inc., we approach home remodeling through an organized and digestible approach: Pre-Construction Services and Construction Services. Pre-Construction Services is the first step to planning and designing your remodeling project before the actual construction begins. Here the “Composer” works with you to put notes on the page. Pre-Construction Services is broken up into Phase 1 and Phase 2.
After concluding the Pre-Construction Service, the next step is construction. Construction Services is the stage when your dream becomes a reality. Now a lot goes on behind the scenes at this point.
While we wish we could twinkle our nose like Samantha in “Bewitched” and have the remodel done in an instant, orchestrating a remodel is a lot more complex than waving a magic wand. Once you have gone through design and planning, project management takes over. Each remodeling project is assigned to a Project Manager. You could say they are similar to a conductor of an orchestra. The Project Manager works off the specifications and drawings (“sheet music”) and coordinates all phases of construction. There is much study of the project in order to know which style of “music is being played” by preparing the materials for delivery and installation.
First step is pulling the necessary permits with the local building department. Next is scheduling all the specialty trades in a specific order to complete the project. With that said, it is important that your General Contractor has outstanding relationships with experienced trade contractors to accomplish the project in a skillful and timely manner.
Then the band warms up... it’s boots on the project! The home is prepared with protection, dust mitigation and safety precautions. Now the drums begin to play… It is time to “demo” or tear out the existing features to make way for the new construction. And as each phase happens in the appropriate order, each trade contractor exercises their craft. Framers, electrician, plumber, HVAC, drywall are like the horn section. The music builds with adding the string section… cabinets, tiling and flooring. And then in the grand crescendo, the finished items come in… countertops, painting and appliances. Ending with the piccolo trilling… the knobs, cabinet pulls and lighting. At last, the overture has played!
Now your conductor will turn and bow with great expectation of a standing ovation!
