What Is White, Square, And Better Not Tear?

Have you heard the one about toilet paper? That’s okay. It is “tearable” anyway!

August 26th is National Toilet Paper Day and Maverick intends to celebrate! Indulge us with some swirling thoughts for a moment..

We’re thinking retro. Nostalgia? Maybe a 2020 theme? Okay, yes, it was last year. But we think you would agree 2020 feels like 20 years ago. Bring back hoarding toilet paper? Are you even low on TP and TP-related supplies yet? Perhaps store up on the backup (pun intended)... butt wipes? Well, gotta store all that stuff somewhere nearby that “throne”. When it comes to remodeling bathrooms, storage is not only a functional element but an aesthetic one, too.

Our most popular choice is a cabinet above the toilet. In a water closet, this cabinet can fit from wall-to-wall and as tall to the ceiling. This option offers plenty of space to store back up supplies on the upper shelves and your well-needed TP on the bottom shelf for the easy access.

Another fantastic option for a toilet parked next to a vanity is to have a dedicated drawer for toilet tissue. Ideally, the drawer will need to be deep enough for the height of the rolls and be in arms reach from the commode. We have designed vanity space for this with either one large drawer at the base of the vanity or drawers stacked on the toilet side of the vanity. In any case, no more trying to do the reach-around the cabinet door!

Many people enjoy the modern look of a floating sink. However, there is a lack of vanity storage for all your stuff. So for people wanting that open airy-feel, a floating shelf just below your sink may do the trick. Try adding baskets for chic storage to wrangle your goods together. There are many colors and styles available. Choose one look to be sleek or go eclectic with various shapes and sizes. Baskets may be set on the shelf or end up instead of a floating shelf all together.

How about a small bar cart? Wine rack? Maybe a ladder? Either make fantastic options for storage. I know, I know... a bar cart belongs at the bar, not in the John. Think about it. How nice it would be if you could wheel toilet paper to yourself in a pinch. We’re just saying! The wine rack will double as a magazine holder and resting place for your TP on top. And for a ladder, this offers additional shelving in a rustic or industrial style.  Ain’t that kitschy?

For the more refined taste, customized work is another option. Built-ins and custom floating shelves have a broad range of price options depending on what you want your loo to look like. We have written about creating an oasis out of your bathroom, and quality storage could contribute to your bliss more than you know.

Shelving and built-ins could also be used to add a little flavor... erm, maybe style... to the bathroom. While you are at it, add plants that do well in low to moderate lights and high humidity. Candles, incense and poo-pourri can also mask your National Toilet Paper Day festivities. They look great placed beside natural stones or monogrammed hand towels.

We will leave you with a friendly PSA… Keep it clean and wash your hands!
